The KTA Skill Passport™
Every build makes you better. The passport is the permanent record of that growth — the one thing a child keeps from every party, camp, class and club session at KTA.
Every interaction advances the same passport
A birthday party is not an isolated transaction. A summer camp isn't disconnected from Build Club. A homeschool class isn't its own universe. They all feed one progression system.
Attend
A party, a camp day, a club session — any format starts the passport.
Build
Real tools, real materials, a real take-home project.
Demonstrate
The student shows the skill to an instructor.
Earn
XP, badge progress and competency sign-off land on the passport.
Unlock
New tools, new challenges, the next level.
Choose Next Skill
The passport recommends the next branch to explore.
Return
Kids come back to keep the record growing.
The loop closes — and every pass through it updates the same permanent passport
One record, fourteen things on it
The passport is the single source of truth for a child's development at KTA — read differently by the child, the parent, the instructor and, eventually, an employer.
KTA Level
Levels 1–6 describe overall development — judgement, independence and range across domains.
Total Build XP
Experience points for participation.
Completed projects
Every build the student finished, with photographs and the date it was completed.
Skills demonstrated
Instructor-verified competencies, each recorded at the stage the student actually reached.
Badges earned
Foundation, skill, project and character badges.
Trade pathways explored
Which of the eight skill trees the student has touched, and how deep they have gone.
Current quests
Themed challenge sets that pull skills from several domains into one goal.
Next recommended challenge
The system always answers one question: what should this child build next?.
Project photo gallery
A growing visual record of everything they have made — the part kids show their friends.
Instructor sign-offs
Named instructors verify each competency and leave written observations for parents.
Milestone certificates
Capstones and level completions produce a printable certificate for the wall at home.
Safety qualifications
The KTA Tool License™ record: exactly which equipment this child is cleared to use, on which date, and by whom.
Personal interests
What the student says they enjoy — used to personalise the next recommendation.
Favorite trades
Pathways the student keeps choosing on their own.
XP is not skill
This distinction is the whole system. A child earns XP for participating — but skills, badges and levels require demonstrated competency, verified by an instructor.
Build XP
Experience
Earned for showing up, participating and putting in the reps. Twenty birthday parties earn plenty of XP — and still won't make a student an advanced electrical student.
Badges
Demonstrated skills
A badge is never granted for attendance. It is unlocked when an instructor verifies the student can actually do the thing — alone, safely, repeatably.
KTA Levels
Overall development
Level 1 through 6 describe the whole builder: judgement, independence and range across domains — not a single class count.
Certifications
Verified competency
Measured against defined requirements, signed off by an instructor, and permanently recorded on the passport.
The test
A student could attend twenty birthday parties and never become an advanced electrical student — and that is exactly how the system is designed.
Everyone sees what they need
The same record, read four ways. That is what makes the passport work for a seven-year-old and a future employer at the same time.
Kids see a game
Levels, quests, badges to discover and a growing gallery of everything they've made. Progress is visible, personal and never ranked against another child.
Parents see educational progress
Confidence, practical skills demonstrated, safety qualifications, projects completed and instructor observations — in plain language.
Instructors see a competency record
Tap Observed, Practiced, Demonstrated or Needs More Practice on the roster. The passport updates itself — no lengthy grading.
Employers see documented history
For older students, years of verified competencies, safety qualifications and completed projects — a digital résumé of what they can do.
This is what Blake sees
A level, an XP bar, a current quest, the skills they're growing, the badges they've earned and the badges still waiting — and a gallery of everything they've actually built.

Levels, not grades
Blake sees Level 3 Maker. There is no pass/fail — only what's next.
A quest, always
The passport always answers 'what should I build next?' so the next visit is already decided.
Skills across domains
Six trade areas, each at its own level. Progress is real and personal, never ranked against another child.
Badges to discover
43 still-locked badges keep the next session exciting — and the secret ones are found, not announced.

Continue Jake's journeyEvery class follows the same rhythm
Discover, Learn, Practice, Build, Inspect, Reflect, Unlock — the same seven beats whether it's a 90-minute workshop or a five-day camp.
Discover
What are we building, and why does it matter?
Learn
The concept, the tool, the safety standard.
Practice
Individual reps on the isolated skill.
Build
The real project, hands on real materials.
Inspect
Evaluate workmanship against the standard.
Reflect
What worked? What would you change?
Unlock
XP, badges and the next recommended challenge.
Passport updatedThe same seven beats run through a birthday build, a Saturday workshop, a camp day and a homeschool session — only the length changes. That consistency is what makes the curriculum teachable, measurable and, later, franchisable.
The KTA Tool License™
An internal academy qualification — clearly not a government or professional licence — that records exactly which equipment a child is cleared to use, and on what date.
Green License
Basic hand tools
Hammer, screwdriver, pliers, clamp and tape measure under direct supervision.
Blue License
Approved introductory powered tools
Cordless drill and driver, sanding blocks and approved low-risk powered tools.
Orange License
Advanced supervised equipment
Higher-capability equipment cleared for the student's age and academy policy.
Black License
Advanced teen shop privileges
Older students who have demonstrated judgement, safety discipline and consistency.

KTA Tool Licenses are internal academy qualifications. They are not government licences, professional certifications or permission to work in a trade. Equipment access is set by age, demonstrated readiness and academy safety policy, and progression never grants unrestricted tool access on its own.
The XP table
XP rewards showing up and putting in the work. It never, on its own, moves a skill level or unlocks a badge.
Birthday Build
Discovery XP for a first-time builder.
Saturday Workshop
Short-format session XP.
Build Club class
Per weekly session attended.
Camp day
Full-day immersion, per day.
Skill challenge completed
A single focused challenge.
Major project
Extended build — up to 500 XP.
Helping another builder
Teamwork XP, instructor observed.
Perfect safety session
Safety XP for a flawless session.
Instructor-verified competency and badge progression are awarded separately from XP — they are never on this table.
Parents buy access. Kids earn advancement.
No membership tier grants a skill level, a badge or a competency. Membership changes what a family can attend and how fast they can move — never what a child is certified to do.
